Naxalites start looking for abducted children

January 31, 2005 09:47 IST

This can happen only in Bihar. A Naxalite group has asked its men to secure the safe release of four school students kidnapped from various parts of the state over the past fortnight.

Four children -- Kislay Kaushal, Deepak Kumar, Ravi Kant and Sumit Kumar -- either went missing or were kidnapped from Patna, Bhagalpur and Biharsharif.

A press release issued by the Communist Party of India-Maoist said its

cadres will raid suspected hideouts of kidnappers all over the state.

There have been state-wide protests against the abductions.

On Friday, over 700 students marched to the Raj Bhavan in Patna seeking Governor Buta Singh's intervention to secure the safe release of the abducted children.

Students in some private schools in Patna have been skipping lunch as a mark of protest.
