Agnivesh to sit in dharna to demand Sarabjit's release

November 13, 2011 20:17 IST

Social activist Swami Agnivesh told on Sunday that he will join the ongoing dharna of Dalbir Kaur, sister of Sarabjit Singh -- who has been languishing in a Pakistani jail for over 20 years -- at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Monday.

Agnivesh recently stepped out of popular reality show Bigg Boss after spending a few days in the house.

"I would sit in the dharna to press for Sarabjit's release. It is a good cause and hence I decided to help Dalbir Kaur in her efforts to get Sarabjit released, who has been languishing in Pakistani jails in a fabricated case of terrorism," Agnivesh told

Unhappy over the response of the Indian government's bid to release Sarabjit, Kaur decided to protest at Jantar Mantar as a 'last resort.'

Kaur is 'hopeful that the dharna would have a positive impact and more and more people would join her in the coming days and lend their support to seek the release of her brother.'
