Suggestions:India stands No.1 in world for petrol prices. It's high time to bring down the petrol price within the range of Rs. 18 - 20 per liter and suggests to impose luxury taxes of two and four wheelers to balance the revenue. I strongly believe this move will definitely bring down the prices of essential commodities also.

Suggestions:Dear Mr.Sinha, As a middle class housewife, I would like to request you to be lenient on essential commodities, please. Lot of poor and middle class people are not even able to get a single meal a day because of the high costs of essential things like rice, vegetables, milk and others. Also please reduce petrol costs as this positively leads to all price increases. Thanks and Regards, Aruna Indian Citizen

Suggestions:IT Exemption limit should be raised atleast to Rs.75000 Eligibile amount for rebate under Section 88 should be raised to Rs.100000 instead of Rs.60000 at present Considering the fact that only the Govt. salaried class pay the I.Tax without any omission thsy should be given some relief and they are entitled for that relief. If the FM is not willing to give any concession to the salaried class I am afraid this will reflect in the ensuing Assembly polls in 5 States to be held in May 2001.

Suggestions:I am Not Required in India, Indian. after retirement from the Navy, I had to find a job to pay off the house building loan and cater for the children's education. God guided me to land in Hong Kong where every nit wit could get a job. It was till then a British Colony. Over the last twenty five years,by God's grace, I have saved certain amount of money. It is hard earned money. No investments etc. I consider myself as patriotic as any other Indian, even though I am not wanted in India. When I return to Undia for good, I am by present regulations permitted to retain my deposits abroad. The income from these is Tax Free. I do not have large deposits. But these are in Foreign currency. I would like my country to have the benefit of it whilst they are in a bank. But unfortunately, the Banks in India do not offer the same facility as if I leave money outside India. Thus the country is deprived of the Foreign Exchange. There must be many more like me with small amounts of savings who would like the country to have the benfit of the foreign exchange. By leaving money in the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank in Luxembourg, my power of attorney is valid even after I pass away. As a result, my children can draw the money in foreign exchange for deposits in the coutries of their residence. There would be no hassles after I die.Drop by drop it becomes an Ocean. If the similar facilities within the concessions extended by the Govt are made applicable even if one transfers the deposits to India, it would build up the coffers of the country's foreign exchange considerably.

Suggestions:Dear Mr. Sinha, I believe that the PSUs should be sold immediately. I think India is going to miss the second IT wave because more countries are now making cheaper and quality software. India's infrastructure is 50 years back. Progress and development are only words and not a reality. The lack of government enthusiasm on education for poor is shameful. There are no strong measures taken by the government for uplifting the social status of women. I think you should have a very harsh budget so that India can reduce its budget deficit. I find that the upper middle class in India have no problems in spending money in expensive eateries, but find it objectionable to pay for cooking gas without subsidy. I think the upper middle class has enough money and all subsidized items should be for the poor and lower middle class. There should also be more investment opportunities for Overseas Indians. Thank you.

Suggestions:A TDS of 10% may be levied on Bank/Company interest without any exemption. This would produce enormous revenue to the Govt. With this Salary, Dividend, Mutual Fund and interest income (majority of individuals have only these four sources for income) would have been subject to TDS. There would be only two sources of individual incomes left out, viz. rent and capital gain. Surely there are very few individuals who have rent and capital gain as their source of income. Individuals not having any rent and capital gain incomes can be exempted from the requirement of filing of tax returns, as they would have paid TDS on their incomes. This would let the revenue authorities free to concentrate their attention to the remaining taxpayers.

Suggestions:H'ble Sir, I am very much involved in studying the exim policy, Customs & Central Law. I would like to suggest some points for the forth coming Budget. 1. It is proposed to rewrite the Export Promotion schemes with a special emphasis on providing finances to the exporters and not benefits as provided under DEEC & DEPB schemes (QABAL/VABAL). This would ensure NIL mal-practices and mis-use of the schemes. The corruption at all the levels related with these export promotion schemes shall drastically come down. Control on the Export Commodities should be only to the extent of Preventive measures keep in mind the National Security. 2. Sir, In respect of the Import under the Customs Law, it is suggested in general that the Import duty of essential commodities which are other-wise not available in our country be brought down to a reasonable & competitive level. for example, Petroleum products which has a long lasting effect in every walk of life. 3. It is proposed that the mode of Payment of Customs, Central Excise Duty may be allowed to be made vide a single challan, which can be made at the end of a month. 4. It is suggested in respect of the Commodities which are posing threat to the domestic industries, the Anti-Dumping duty is not the correct solution. Because, in addition to saving local industries we have to maintain the cordial relations with the origin countries. For instance, I have studied the case of dumping of the Chinese goods into indian market. I have also seen the quality of the said goods. The quality of the chinese goods may be appearing to be of inferior quality as compared to the indian goods. but instead of imposing anti-dumping duty on the Chinese Goods, we may explore the reasons behihd the cheaper import. Easy Taxation Rules, Easy Labour Laws, and less interference of the Government policies into the industries has made the Chinese Goods still cheaper after their export into India. 5. Sir, please do something to the Corruption at the Roots and help us make a Revenue Department which is more Industry Friendly, exporter friendly, Importer friendly together with a tough image that no nonsense will be tolerated which costs the exchequer and The National Pride. Jai Hind. Subramanya Rayaprol Inspector of Customs Porbandar Customs, Gujarat.

Date : 24-1-2001 H'ble Sir, I am an avid reader and critic of the Government's policies pertaining to the Exim Policies and Customs & Central Excise Duties. I would take the honour to humble submit my points as below: 1. Scrapping of the Duty Drawback scheme. Let the Government provide Finances to the Exporters instead giving them Duty Drawback. 2. Less control of the bureacracy over the Export Goods and Less incentives to the exporters on the taxpayers cost. 3. Tough Customs & Central Excise Rules to the extent of less paper work and more vigilant work so as to prevent evasion of Taxes and smuggling of Anti-National elements and goods. 4. Easy Trade friendly Rules may be framed, so as to help the Industries & Foreign Trade in general and earn more Revenue to the exchequer. 5. Lessening and eradication of the Corruption in the Revenue Departments is a must as promised by the H'ble Primeminister to Zero Tolerance, to effectively implement the words of the Parliament on the Streets of Our INDIA. Jai Hind. Subramanya Rayaprol

Suggestions:For salaried employees, standard deduction should be increased from present 20000 to atleast 30000. Limit of tex-free income should be enhanced from existing 50000 to 75000. Rebate under savings should be increased from 12000 to atleast 20000, because, salaried employees do not have any scope to evade payment of income tax. Income tax payment of businessmen should be monitored in such a way that they cannot evade payment of tax in a large scale. Large scale evasion must be avoided. There should not be any gender discrimination and discrimination between castes, as this goes against the very spirit of the Constitution.

Suggestions:Hon'ble Finance Minister Sir, Keeping in view the recent allround increases in the prices of petroleum products, electricity charges, house rents ( there is a definite need to exempt HRA from income tax) and essential commodities in addition to the aniticipated raise in train fares which affect every one of us , more so the middle class families and govt servants with fixed and totally declared sources of income (unlike those in private sector where they get lot of their pay in the form of non taxable perks),I sincerely request you and beleive wholeheartedly that in your ensuing budget for 2001-2002, you will give due considerations to these facts and give substantial tax relief to the salaried class by way of raising the tax slab to Rs.75,000 in addition to incresing the incentives for savings ( you may remember that this has not been changed for almost five years now) from the present Rs 60,000 to at least Rs:1,00,000.As you said in Mumbai a couple of weeks back that we can expect a good budget this year,I am eagerly looking forward to see at least some relief to the salaried class by way of tax reliefs. In case none of these reliefs are announced by you , there is no doubt that the benefit the salaried class got due to 5 th pay commission will be of no practical use to them. Therefore I appeal to you once again to kindly do something for this class in your budget for 2001-2002. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, Raghunath.M.

In order to progress the main focus must be on the 1)Youth 2)Development of Indigenous Science & Technology As far as Technology goes it can't progress without science but the focus given in our cuontry on Research is really not up to the mark. The reason's behind this is many students r forced to take to some career so that they can earn more and the final result is 1) Best Science brains go out in quest of science & money togather 2) We loose some good brains in nothing as they can't afford even to go abroad due to some constraints and the whole world is deprived of such brains. The solution to this can be to make the research sector more attractive. Of course the previous comission has done its job but it needs to be reviewed as only Information Technology can't help INDIA to become a totally DEVELOPED nation in true sense. We need our INDIGENEOUS Science and technology to develop and let the world rely on us... I am saying this because to come in this field of research i had to overcome many obstacles but many i know cudn't do that because of the type of money involved in IT is much more attractive than research. Special schemes to promote large scale investments in agro related or based products will ensure that the price fall in these sectors are prevented. India cannot ignore the wide agri base. But at the same time our WTO commitments cannot be forgotten hence it is necessary to create a situation where investments inEdible oils using indegenous seeds, lubricants using indegenous agro-products, food productsshould be encouraged. It is also necessary to increase the IT exemption level to Rs. 2 lacs. Respectful regards and kudos on the wonderful way you are managing the country's economy Balachandran

I appreciate you if you can set apart more fund for the development of Railway in Kerala, Doubling the lines, Electrifiying it and providing more trains.Kerela is a state where more people travell to north but is ignored by all gov.'s irrespective of the party. Now Kerala people are suffering to live because they depend on Rubber, cocunut, pepper etc which lost its value. Pls do something to get these crops good value. The fate of India depends on how much it can gain out of IT industry and how much the gov. can make the normal people get educated to make use of the benifits of IT. So the education system should be renewed to have a greate through put of IT pepole and to give education to the low caste. All the religious fighting will help only to destroy the name and the economy of the country. So the gov should not entertain any religion to work against the constitution of India. If some one build a Temple, Mosque or a Church by destroying or fighting with each other, they will not gain anything except hatered and sheding of Blood. Protect all religions, it's faith and its freedom to propagate it. And allow every one to select what they think is the best, not through force. It is freedom.

Suggestions:while it is not exactly a part of budget exercise, if you can manage to introduce an 'EXIT' policy in India, life would be much better for corporates and MNCs. To accelerate growth, FDI is must in infrastructure and key manufacturing sectors and if you can further simplify the procedures and laws, and improve 'IMAGE' OF India in key markets through well-organised marketing campaign, that will go a long way towards the stated objectives of growth and prosperity.

Be it Tata-Birla or road side rickshawala... 2.Keep the essentila items prices low and remoce subsidies in all areas.. Bring more items into Essential items list.. 3. Govt. employees should be hired for some period of 5 yesrs and extendable.. Job security is the biggest fuck of all Govt. organizations. with this there wont be strong union bazi. 3. Strict anti corruption laws..Corruption means Visa to hell.. One shoukld think like that .. (may be you are a part of it.. Cancer should be removed by cutting it off..) 4. Person with more than 3 kids should be withdrawn sussidies and ration cards. With more than 4 children promotiosn should be verymuch delayed. U know population is the evil of India. No religion bar for population problem. 5. Education fees and all keep it as much low as possible.. Ofcourse higher education should cost high. Education shopuld reach as many people as possible. 6. We should develop efficient top layers.. whocan work day and night.. old budhe logom ko critical responsiblities mat dejiyega.. 7. Impose some foreign debt tax on everybody in the country, say for example 2% of income should pay, to pay off our foreign debts. 8. Please dont forget carrot and danda rule.. Suggestions:Dear Sir, Here are few suggestion which you may consider for forthcoming budget. To bring the industry out of recession, introduce anti dumping duty at least, if you cannot ban the import. For salary earning people, it has become extremely difficult to live because the minimum limit for income tax paying had not been raised since last four years. about which even the BJP also demanded when it was not in power. now it is high time to think over it because this is the majority(barring a small fraction) who pays the taxes most honestly since they cannot resort to any sort of windowdressing or evasion.
