No such unrealistic targets such as selling Govt. stake worth 10, 000 crores or so should be taken rather a sincere approach should be taken to solve the economic as well as social problems side by side. Employment should be taken care off while cutting down the flab in the necessary areas. Thanks.

Email:ravida@satyam.net.in
Suggestions:Respected Sir, Slash down tax percentage on income to 10-20%, so that people will be more than happy to declare their true income. I am sure, this will result in more tax collection, reduce burden on govt. machinery, reduce the domination of black money. This step should be linked to very harsh punishment to the tax-avoiders- a real harsh one! Because if they do not want to pay the taxes even after such reduction, 1. they are irresponsible and 2. they prefer black money.

Name:murali shankar
Email:murali.shankar@wipro.com
Suggestions:Hello Minister, I have the following suggestions to make: 1. Patriotic: With the s/w services companies focussing on foreign clients, the Indian industry (specifically the Defence and Space sectors) are suffering. The S/W professionals are gravitaed towards the private sector companies. You can incentivate the domestic s/w development, by providing a stipulation that the Tax rebates on IT exports/ STPI benifits will accrue only if a certain part of their sales( sales exceeding 200 crores) are reported out of domestic services for Defence and Space etc. 2.Pay the society back: You should tax the s/w services now that they have grown and they should pay back to the society. They are growing at the cost of society expenditure-Subsidised education, infrastrucure spending by govt and no Tax to Government. 3. Incentivating the IT h/w is the most essential need. The s/w services remind one of the British Rule. They used to take our cotton and sell the textiles back to us. The s/w services is precisely working the same way. We lend the Intellect at a cheaper rate and get back the products built with our intellect. In case of s/w there is no direct fixed investment excepting buildings .Where as h/w IT nvestments will fetch Plants and Machinery in addition to encouraging the R&D in products. Hence the future focus should be in IT H/W services. I hope i will see some actions on the lines sugested . Thanking you dear Minister. murali shankar

Suggestions:Respected Sir We belong to the group of It professionals in India who are in Software development Business. Since because of very high tax rates on salaried people who are usually part of our orgaisation tend to leave the company and go to US , UK or GERMANY. There they have one simple rate. If you can able to reduce tax rates on salaries it will definitely help our organizations to retain good talent in India. Also currently we are boosting a lot of investments in India but the Network and IT infrastructure are the big problems. If you can make any provisions to boost network infrastructure in the country It will make bring some high quality projects in India which we usually require to test abroad Thanks in Advance

We are poised for a great future under your able leadership and look forward to some radical changes from the finance ministry.

But sir, this can be obtained only by increasing the pace of disinvestment process of PSUs.Privatise the power, petroleum sector and more importantly AirIndia and IndianAirlines.Huge amount can be amassed form these two PSUs and can be effectively used for infrastructure purpose.I request you to remove some more hurdles and make FDIs easy. This can reduce the deficit and this is what is worrying the Indian economy and especially you.Let this not be merely a promise but I hope Mr.Vajpayee's government will implement it in the coming year.

It is only the salaried who pay the taxes regularly because they cant escape from it. Isn't it unfair that those earning crores dont pay taxes properly(and they still get VIP treatment at the Banks etc.)and we the middle class are hounded Please tighten "your" belts. The distancebetween an elected people's representatives and the normal citizen is widening with no end in sight. Most of them are corrupt. Isn't it a fact funds allotted by government normally just trickle down, after being filtered by the Highest level next the beurocracy next by the street leader. Why can't you do something about arresting this trend of taking corruption for granted Sarma

Suggestions:Sir, The Tax structure in India is very complex and therefore one can easily escape from paying tax. There should be very simple mehtod of collecting the tax even if it is a cash transaction. There should be uniformity of rate of tax for every person irrespective of his income slab. You please do something for the same. Regards Tarak Shah

Suggestions:More allowance towards the small scale sector due to increasing competition from Large foreign MNC's and also due to the fact that unemployment can only be reduced by increasing jobs through labour intensive industries which is more small scale. Increased Liberalisation has increased foreign MNC into the country with high automation thus decreasing employment as they don't need many and also as they put the small businesses out of business. Please have something done to make the country economically stronger by making it able to survive by itself without unwanted foreign businesses invited to provide competition to the small scale

Suggestions:1. You can levy a tax of 1 % on all interest charged and paid out by banks. Very easy to enforce. The present TDS on interest payment on fixed deposits is very difficult to implement and very easy to evade. Rest assured. No one will mind loss of 1 % of interest received. 2. Please, give a serious thinking about abolishing individual income tax. It is useless and not even cost effective. It only gives the state an unnecessary power over individuals. Please consider introducing expenditure tax.

Suggestions:Dear Mr. Finance Minister, It is really credible the way you have been manging the Indian Economy, given the state of Parliament and complusions due to a coilition government. You have been trying to identify new sources of revenue very hard. Though I partial agree with this idea, I feel that doing a bit too much would unneccesarily hurt the taxpayers further. We have seeing no improvement of controlling expenditure. Its all been in talks. All of us would appreciate if you would take some conceret steps to meet this end.

Suggestions:Sir, You should first check the administration of the Income Tax Department. When you don't have a full time ITO for places like Azamgarh which is a commissionery, how do expect from public to abide by the law. The person who has got additional charge of Azamgarh on the basis of bribing senior beureucrats. Also Azamgarh don't have requisite staff because here a person named Tiwari has made Income Tax Office his personal property. His transfers in past have been cancelled on the force of bribing senior officials. You can set up confidential enquiry especially for Azamgarh, and can see what public opines for the Income Tax Office.

The amount of money wasted by these high-flying people is good enough to set up a few industries. Unfortunately, the taxman's soft target are the salaried class whose income and expenditure are fully transparent.
