The Nominations...

If you haven't sent in your nominations as yet, please remember to do so before Christmas Day. Marvellous surprises await the 12 best entries.

Name:Sulabh Dhanuka
Email:sulabhd@hotmail.com
Nomination:Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Reason why:From just a couple of seats a few years back to becoming the largest party in the recently dissolved Parliament, the BJP has come a long way and this man can take most of the responsibility for that. A great man who has shown what the BJP is really about, and shown that the nation's best interests lie in being strong and united. Perhaps, most likely to become the next PM, his silence in the recent turmoil has been golden. Most parties say that he is a great man, but his party is not. To this his reply is, "If the fruit is good, then the tree that bears it must be good." JAI HIND.

Name:sekhar
Email:santiags@cig.mot.com
Nomination:Mother Teresa
Reason why: She is an incarnation of love. She has made every Indian proud throughout the world by inspiring millions of people around the world. She "lives" even today in the hearts of thousands of men and women who have offered their lives for the upliftment of the downtrodden, the poor and helpless people. As I am in loss of words to explain her magnanimity I borrow the prayer of Assisi which mother liked and followed:

Lord, make me a channel of your peace, that where there is hatred, I may bring love, Where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness, Where there is discord, I may bring harmony, Where there is error, I may bring truth, Where there is doubt, I may bring faith, Where there is despair, I may bring hope, Where there are shadows, I may bring light and where there is sadness, I may bring joy.

Lord, grant that I may comfort, rather than to be comforted, That I may understand, rather that to be understood That I may love, rather than to be loved. For it is by forgetting self, that one finds it is by forgiving, that one is forgiven it is by dying that one awakens to eternal life

Name:Chandra Shekar Azad
Email:cnalajal@online.emich.edu
Nomination:Sitaram Kesri
Reason why:For being the perfect Congressman and denying the people of India any chance of possible development by pulling down governments at will. May be, the Congress and UF politicians should be called the "Men of the Year".

Name:Mona Deliwala
Email:mbd47670@pegasus.cc.ucf.edu
Nomination:Mother Teresa
Reason why:She deserves this award because of all the work that she has done with the poor in India. Put yourself in her position -- can YOU do it?

Name:Anand Babu Kuppa
Email:anand_babu@yahoo.com
Nomination:Nara Chandrababu Naidu
Reason why:Mr Chandrababu Naidu has time and again played an important role as chief negotiator for the UF government. Besides, he has paved the way for AP in the field of computer technology. His programmes, including the recent Janambhoomi, has received a lot of appreciation from the general public. He is also very innovative and truly a man to be honoured this year.

Name:Rahul Desai
Email:rahul.desai@gnbom.globalnet.ems.vsnl.net.in
Nomination:Dr A P J Abdul Kalam
Reason why:A brilliant scientist who showed the world the real might of India's intellectual capabilities. His selfless and relentless pursuit of excellence has led India singlehandedly into the league of powerful nations. His personal integrity and love for India is exemplified by his staying in the country and serving the country even though he could have commanded millions of dollars had he gone to some Western country.

His life is an example to our so-called brilliant engineers, doctors and managers that there is no dearth of opportunity in India, provided you want to look for it. I think it is sick when I hear things like half of the engineers in NASA, Microsoft, Intel are Indians. It is these Indians who though maybe intellectually sound are morally bankrupt, who get educated at India's expense and work in foreign countries

Salaam Dr Kalam. You are truly a Jewel in India's Crown

Name:Suresh K R
Email:suresh@wipinfo.soft.net
Nomination:K R Narayanan
Reason why:Stood straight for the truth.

Name:S Thangavelu
Email:stvelu@hotmail.com
Nomination:Dr A P J Abdul Kalam
Reason why:India is often portrayed as downtrodden and poverty stricken in the media of developed countries. At the same time they do not like India becoming a super power.

Due to the efforts of Dr Abdul Kalam, the architect of the integrated missile development programme, India has achieved breakthroughs indigenously in critical defense technology. Kalam is the second scientist to receive the country's highest civilian award "Bharat Ratna".

We can raise our head high high and be proud of our great achievement in the field of missile technology. The Western media which is envious of our accomplishment, tries to hide the fact.
