Orissa daily editor turns 102

Veteran freedom fighter -- and perhaps the country's oldest working editor -- Dr Radhanath Rath turned 102 yesterday.

President K R Narayanan and Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral were among a large number of dignitaries who sent their greetings and good wishes to the freedom fighter and committed social worker who has been in journalism for nearly 80 years.

Describing the Oriya daily Samaj's editor as an illustrious freedom fighter and a renowned journalist, the President said he made significant contributions to the state's development.

The Dr Rath birth centenary celebration committee also organised several functions and seminars on the occasion.
