As always, when the chips are down, count on our men in uniform to stand up to the odds.
There could not have been a worse beginning to the new year for India than the terror attack on Pathankot air force base in Punjab.
As heavily-motivated terrorists from across the border in Pakistan went about their all-too-familiar ritual of death, the only thing that stood between them and disaster were our men in uniform -- from the elite National Security Guard, the Garuda commandos and the Defence Security Corps, who have ensured that India’s air assets remained unharmed.
In the pitched battle that has now lasted more than 48 hours, India has lost seven of her valiant soldiers, bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice to ensure that aircraft and fellow personnel stationed at the base were kept from harm's way.
Join us in paying homage to India's valiant soldiers, light a candle in their memory.
