The Congress will be batting for itself and not for its allies and the focus would be on key leaders, including Rahul Gandhi [Images] in an ad campaign to be launched by the party soon for Lok Sabha polls.

Party chief Sonia Gandhi [Images] and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] would be the two other stars in the ad blitzkrieg.

A senior leader associated with the campaign declined to divulge its main plank, but maintained that the aam admi  ethos would remain at its centre.

Asked whether any non-Congress leaders in United Progressive Alliance would also be projected, he said it was purely a Congress campaign.

The leader, who did not want to be identified, declined to reveal the budget for the campaign. Reports had it that the exercise could cost Rs 150 crore.

The campaign could be out during the convention of the block and district Congress committee chiefs to be convened by the All India Congress Committee.
