This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty..."
--From Dr Martin Luther King's famous I Have A Dream speech, August 28, 1963
The US Election: Complete Coverage
Forty five years after Dr King made his famous speech at the Lincoln Memorial, at a time when it seemed less likely that blacks would have the same rights as whites, let alone nurture such absurd dreams of a black man in the great white building across the street in Washington, DC, history has knocked on America's door.
A fortnight after Barack Obama is inaugurated as president on January 20, 2009, America and the world will celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of the great leader who first began the battle to destroy the cruel barriers of colour and race that has so wounded that country for so long, Abraham Lincoln.
