With reference to the Madras high court notice on a petition filed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India over the domain name indianfantasyleague.com, Rediff.com clarifies that it merely provided the domain registration service to the owner of the said domain.

Rediff.com, India's leading online portal, clarifies that it offers this facility as part of its subscription based services. Through Rediff Business Solutions service, users can avail of the facility to book or register domain names.

The Central Registrar has the sole authority over the registration of domain names, and Rediff.com has no control over the allocation and registration of domain names.

Rediff.com provides the domain registration service on 'as is where is' and 'first come first serve' basis as per the service terms and conditions available online.

As such, Rediff.com cannot be held liable for any loss or claim that may arise due to the BCCI's case against one Sandeep Goel for using the domain name indianfantasyleague.com.

Rediff.com will shortly be filing its legal response clarifying its position in the above case.
