Flood situation improves in Orissa

The early arrival of the monsoon in Orissa caused floods and brought misery for the people, but now the flood situation across many districts of Orissa has improved and the water is receding in the marooned villages. The situation in the area over the past week has been very depressing. Relief work was also halted due to continuous rains. According to reports, over a million people have been stranded during the current spell of floods.
