Assam: 2 CRPF jawans killed in ambush

Two Central Reserve Police Force jawans were killed and four others injured when militants belonging to the Jewel faction of Dima Halam Daogah fired at them in Assam on Wednesday.

DHD (Jewel) militants opened fire at a CRPF patrol party at Maibong in Karbi Anglong district at around 0730 hours, killing two CRPF jawans and injuring four others.

The militants then escaped into the nearby jungle.

The injured jawans have been admitted to the Maibong civil hospital.

In another incident, one hardcore ULFA militant belonging to the 27 battalion was shot dead in the outskirts of Guwahati city in the early hours.

The police said the encounter took place at Aporikhola in Sonapur area.
