Welfare programmes on birthday

August 21, 2008
While the venue of Chiranjeevi's public meeting is spread 183 acres, the Vavilala tank bed itself is spread over 40 acres. The Supreme Court while adjourning further hearing of the matter to a later date allowed the meeting to go ahead.

Reacting to the verdict, the actor said, "It is clear that God is on our side and people are also with us. Whenever a problem comes up, it is getting resolved immediately. I am thankful to the God". He asked the workers to focus their attention of the preparations for the meeting and work hard to make it successful.

The petition in the Supreme Court had left the Chiranjeevi camp worried and anxious as they had already made a lot of preparations on the ground.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi has decided to celebrate his 53rd birthday on Friday in a distinctly different way. It will be shorn of any ostentatious celebrations. While the star will celebrate the birthday with his family amid religious rituals and special Puja, his party will mark the occasion with a social service programme. Chiranjeevi told reporters on Thursday that the party was sending a team of 450 doctors to the tribal areas in Andhra Pradesh afflicted by viral fever and malaria. "These doctors will work in the affected areas till August 26," Chiranjeevi said. Recently there has been lot of criticism of the failure of government machinery in providing medical care to the tribal suffering from the seasonal diseases and preventing large-scale deaths.

Chiranjeevi has also issued an appeal to his fans not to gather in Hyderabad for his birthday. "Instead come to Tirupati for the public meeting", he said.
