BJP President Rajnath Singh on Friday cleared the air on sending a party representative to Jammu as part of the all-party delegation for a dialogue with the Amarnath agitators, when he called up the Prime Minister and named party general secretary Arun Jaitley for the job.

"Rajnath took the initiative to clear all doubts when he phoned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and told him that Arun Jaitley will represent the BJP in all-party delegation to Jammu," a senior BJP leader said.

Earlier, the saffron party had expressed reservations on being a part of the delegation, arguing that land alloted to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) be returned before taking any further steps.

It has also demanded removal of Jammu and Kashmir [Images] Governor N N Vohra.

"Though the party is sending a representative, it has not taken back its demands," the BJP leader said. Rajnath Singh is said to have reiterated this demand to the Prime Minister in their telephonic conversation. The all-party delegation headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is likely to leave for Jammu tomorrow.
