Taking serious note of reports of a Major General misbehaving with a woman officer, Defence Minister A K Antony has asked Army Chief Gen J J Singh to submit a report to him on the case.

Antony has also asked Army headquarters to put before him the facts about charges by senior Rajasthan officers of some army personnel, including senior officers, selling their acquired Non-Service weapons illegally in Bikaner and SriGanganagar.

"The minister has taken a serious view of such reports and wants Army Headquarters to probe these charges in depth," defence ministry officials said.

Captain Neha Rawat posted at Leh has filed a statutory complaint against the General Officer Commanding of the Leh division Major General A K Lal alleging that he misbehaved with her in public.

Acting promptly, the Army has ordered an investigation into the case and pending its outcome, shifted Lal on attachment to Srinagar-based 15 Corps.

An army spokesman said if the charges were found to be substantiated a court of inquiry will be instituted.

Similarly, in the case of reports of illegal sale of arms by army men in Rajasthan, the Jaipur-based South Western Command has ordered a probe.
