Karnataka, which is already in the midst of so much turmoil is expected to face more problems with a couple of legislators threatening to approach the Supreme Court, if the Janata Dal-Secular-Bharatiya Janata Party are permitted to form the government.

A couple of independent MLAs led by Vatal Nagraj of the Vatal party said that it is not correct to form the government especially when a petition seeking disqualification of the JD-S MLAs is pending before the speaker.

Nagraj was referring to a petition he had filed before the speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly soon after H D Kumaraswamy had formed the government with the BJP 21 months ago.

Nagraj had stated that Kumaraswamy and his MLAs had disobeyed their party whip and formed the government.

Hence, they be disqualified.

The independent MLAs in Karnataka are closely monitoring this petition and say that it is not correct to allow the formation of the government when this case is pending.

In case the government is formed and the speaker allows the petition, then it would be mean that all JD-S MLAs barring 12 of them will be disqualified.

This would mean that the government will be reduced to a minority in Karnataka.

Nagraj also said that they will not give up their fight here. Even if the speaker rejects their petition, they still will approach the Supreme Court, he said.
