Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, in his characteristic style, said in the Rajya Sabha on Monday that members complaining of not getting glass in trains should go 'swadeshi' way and use their hands for drinking water.

Ram Narayan Sahu (Samajwadi Party) complained during a discussion on the Railway Budget that he did not get a glass for drinking water even in a first class coach.

He was supported by Bharatiya Janata Party's S S Ahluwalia. Thereafter, Prasad stood up and cupped his palms and asked both Ahluwalia and Sahu to go 'swadeshi' way.

In another intervention, the Railway minister informed Sahu that the Lucknow Mail was made to start from platform number 12 at the New Delhi railway station to enable elders like the SP member to travel without using stairs.

But this time round, Prasad got it back. "You also have to reach that age. Are you making arrangements for that," Sahu asked.
