A delegation of Third Front leaders on Friday met President A P J Abdul Kalam in a bid to persuade him to contest the polls.

After the hour-long meeting, the leaders declined to reveal what was discussed.

They drove straight to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence for a meeting with NDA leaders.

The UNPA leaders who met the President included Chandrababu Naidu, Jayalalitha, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Om Prakash Chautala.
