The body of a 16-year-old boy, who was abducted in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, was found in neighbouring Navi Mumbai.

"The body of 16-year-old Adnan Patrawala has been found at Navi Mumbai. The persons we have arrested had committed the kidnapping and strangled him to death out of panic when they realised that the kidnap story was being broadcast on television channels," Deputy Commissioner of Police V Chaubey told PTI.

He did not disclose the names.

Adnan, the son of a Mumbai businessman, Aslam Patrawala, had left his residence in suburban Andheri's Oshiwara area on Saturday night and did not return home.

Before leaving, the class 12 student of CW College had told his parents that he was going out with some friends.

Reports said that Aslam had received a phone call from the alleged kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs 2 crore.

Further details soon.
