ita Mehta has written three novels -- the much reviewed Karma Cola; Raj and A River Sutra, both of which made less of an impact than her literary debut -- and a book of essays, Snakes and Ladders. She is also the daughter of the legendary Oriya politician Biju Patnaik, the sister of Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the wife of Ajai Singh 'Sonny' Mehta, arguably the most influential publisher in America.
On Wednesday, Gita appeared at the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan for a signing of her latest book Eternal Ganesha.
Eternal Ganesha will be released at the end of November. The hero of Mehta's latest book is Lord Ganesha, and the writer looks at the meaning and significance of this much-loved god.
