Tony Blair's final battle

September 07, 2006
Tony Blair became prime minister nine years ago after Labour spent 18 bitter years in the Opposition.

Under his leadership, his party -- dubbed New Labour for breaking away from the party's socialistic policies -- has won three general elections.

While Gordon Brown (seen with Blair) has maintained a measured silence, Jack Straw, Labour's leader of the House of Commons (the British Lok Sabha), warned of a civil war within the party.
