Security agencies have thrown a multi-layered security ring around Chinese President Hu Jintao, who arrived in New Delhi [Images] on Monday evening on a three day visit to India.

President A P J Abdul Kalam will host a banquest in honour of the visiting dignitary.

Chinese secret service agents arrived in New Delhi a few days before the visit and inspected almost all the places to be visited by President Jintao and had several security drills to ensure that things pass off peacefully.

The team also visited Majnu ka Tilla where most of the Tibetans in exile live. "This is a trouble spot for the visiting Chinese dignitary and the intelligence agencies are busy keeping an eye on the movements of the leaders of the Tibetan freedom movement," a senior government official said.

Tibetans joined a huge march in New Delhi to protest against the visit of the Chinese leader. Bharatiya Janata Party MPs from Arunachal Pradesh Khiren Rijiju and Tapir Goan and European human right activities also joined the march which terminated at Jantar Mantar.

Delhi police set up major road blocks on all the roads the VIP entourage was supposed to take on his visit to Taj Mann Singh hotel in the heart of the capital.
