Make statement on N-deal, BJP tells PM
March 03, 2006 19:04 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party [Images] Friday demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] make a statement in Parliament on the Indo-US nuclear deal explaining the 'gains and losses' for India at the earliest.

Party spokesperson Sushma Swaraj said although Dr Singh was on record that he would make the statement in Parliament, no date was fixed for it despite the opposition's demand for the same.

The nation was eager to know about this important understanding reached with the US and the BJP had deferred its comments on the issue until details were known, she said.

The prime minister should take Parliament into confidence and tell the people details of the agreement reached, Swaraj added.
