While a garment shop owner, Prashant Jain, was freed by his kidnappers in Patna on Tuesday, another businessman was allegedly abducted from Bihar's Sasaram town, police said on Wednesday.

Badri Singh, a dealer of Dettol and soaps, went missing when he had gone to the market to buy medicine on Sunday.

When the trader did not not return home, his family members complained to the police, who later registered a case of kidnapping.

As Singh remained missing for the fourth consecutive day, the case is under investigation and efforts are being made to find him, police said.

A recent spate of kidnappings in Bihar has cast shadows over Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's promise to make Bihar cime-free within three months.

A schoolboy, Nirmalendu Prakash Diwakar, son of former director of the state animal husbandry department, Dr O P Diwakar, is also traceless for the second day on Wednesday, after he was kidnapped by gunmen while going to school in Patna.
