A date with the Taj
July 15, 2001. Setting aside time from his Agra Summit with then Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and wife Sehba toured the Taj Mahal for nearly an hour. He is apparently the only Pakistan president to visit the classical symbol of Mughal culture.
The Taj Mahal is magnificent, the normally talkative general told reporters.
That was not the only glimpse the Musharrafs had of the Taj. Their suite at the Amar Vilas Hotel in Agra offered a stunning view of the monument as well.
