Where Ganapati is more than a god

Hindu Tarun Mandal, Mundva

Established: 1934

The mandal was started by Yashwant Gaikwad. "We started this utsav(festival) as we wanted unity in our area," says one of the organisers.

The Hindu Tarun Mandal is famous for moving idols. But this year, because the organisers did not collect donations from the public, they opted for cheaper and simpler decor.

This year, the main attractions are lights that blink to the beats of music.

The mandal also organises welfare activities, such as a yearly blood donation camp.
