Railway announces compensation for train accident victims

The Railways have announced ex-gratia for the families of those killed in the train derailment in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.

Speaking to newsmen in Hyderabad, Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu said that the families of the deceased would get ex-gratia of Rs 100,000 immediately. They would also be eligible for compensation of Rs 400,000 from the Railways Claims Tribunal later.

He said that those injured would be paid an ex-gratia of Rs 15,000 each.
