The Jammu and Kashmir [Images] government on Monday dispatched medical teams to three relief points along the Line of Control to provide healthcare facilities to survivors of quake-ravaged Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, official sources said.

They said a nine-member medical team has been sent to the Kaman Post in Uri near the LoC, which opens on November 9, to provide necessary medical aid to the earthquake victims of PoK.

The team, comprising four doctors and five para-medical staff, will return on November 19, the sources added.

They said an eleven-member medical team has been sent to Teethwal in the Tangdhar area. The LoC near Teethwal opens for the divided families of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir on November 10.

The team, comprising two doctors and nine para-medics, has been asked to stay there till November 19. Similarly, a seven-member team has also been dispatched to Haji Peer in Uri.

However, it was not yet known when the relief points at Haji Peer along the LoC would be opened. The team comprises three doctors and four medical staff. It has been ordered to stay there till November 19, the sources said.

The Controller of Stores has been asked to arrange adequate supplies of drugs and logistics at all these points.

Initially, India and Pakistan had decided to open five relief points along the LoC for crossing on foot by members of the divided families on both the sides at five points - Nauseri-Teethwal, Chakothi-Uri, Hajipur-Uri, Rawalakote- Poonch and Tattapani-Mendhar - on November 7.

However, the External Affairs Ministry, in a statement in New Delhi on Saturday, said the crossing point at Chakan Da Bagh in Poonch will be operational from Tuesday.

The crossing point at Kaman Post in Uri will open on November 9 and Teethwal in Tangdhar on November 10, it said.

Relief material for earthquake victims will be sent through these points and the people can start using them to cross the LoC as soon as their names are approved by both the sides.

The Ministry said all Indians desirous of using the crossing points may collect application forms from and apply to the Regional Passport Office, Srinagar [Images], the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office or his representative in District Headquarters or Director (Pakistan) in the External Affairs Ministry.

Work is going on, on the other two points - Hajipur-Uri and Tattapani-Mendhar - but they will be opened only when there is a popular demand as agreed in the last meeting of the officials of the two countries.
