Bill to raise judges' retirement age introduced

Noted lawyer and Independent member Ram Jethmalani introduced a Bill in Rajya Sabha on Friday to raise the retirement age of high court judges.

"The Bill will end the scramble among high court judges for promotion to the supreme court," Jethmalani said introducing the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2005.

Apart from this, 11 more private member bills were introduced in the House.

Congress member Santosh Bagrodia introduced bills to protect the Indian industry from onslaught of multinationals and to prevent ragging in colleges and institutions.

Congress member R K Anand introduced bills to promote small family norms, to formulate national policy on youth and insertion of new article 21 B in the Constitution.
