Stung by mosquito menace, the National Democratic Alliance government of Nitish Kumar has decided to launch an offensive against the winged insects besides fighting other ills gripping Bihar.

Replying to a call attention motion of Congress member Chandan Bagchi about steps taken to make Patna mosquito-free, Urban Development Minister Ashwini Choubey told the legislative council that three fogging machines were already at work in as many municipal circles of the capital.

In view of the enormity of the problem, the government has decided to buy three more fogging machines, he said.

The minister said besides daily inspection by the officials of the Patna Municipal Corporation, he himself will monitor the situation every week.

He said the help of health department was also being sought.

Choubey said he has called a meeting of senior officers of the health department as also of his own in Patna.
