Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice on Thursday following an uproar over the attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav near Vadodara by suspected Sangh Parivar activists.

Trouble broke out when RJD members supported by the Congress protested what they termed as pre-meditated conspiracy against the railway minister, who had gone to Samalaya in connection with a train accident.

With the Bharatiya Janata Party benches vehemently countering the allegation, the House was in turmoil in the post-lunch session. It was subsequently adjourned for 30 minutes.

Santosh Bagrodia (Congress) demanded the removal of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi [Images] for having failed to provide security to a Union Cabinet Minister.

When the House re-assembled, the furore continued despite repeated requests from Deputy Chairman of the House, K Rehman Khan, to allow the proceedings to continue.

The House was then adjourned till Monday.
