Ex-ministers may get thrown out of homes

October 05, 2004 17:53 IST

A week after serving them a notice, the urban development ministry has issued reminders to six former ministers to vacate their official residences in New Delhi, failing which eviction proceedings would be initiated against them.

The six are: Kanshi Ram Rana, Vinod Khanna, Ved Prakash Goel, Rajshekhar Murthy, Ramesh Baish and Ananth Kumar

The ministry asked them to explain by October 12 why they should not be evicted.

The notices were served last week under the Public Premises (Eviction) of Unauthorised Occupants Act, 1971, sources said.

Fourteen ministers in the United Progressive Alliance government are awaiting allotment of the official accommodation, the sources said.
