Suspended party leader Uma meets Advani

December 01, 2004 22:28 IST

Suspended leader Uma Bharti on Wednesday met Bharatiya Janata Party president L K Advani in New Delhi amid indications that the disciplinary action against her may be revoked.

The meeting with Advani comes a day after she met senior party leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Bharati claimed she did not discuss politics with him and asserted she was "not unhappy" over being away from the party.

The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, who plans to visit the Kanchi Shankaracharya in the Vellore Jail, also said "it would be a matter of serious concern, if the seer is actually involved in the charge levelled against him".

"I have been in touch with Vajpayee since my childhood. He had invited me for dinner as I had returned after a long
time. There was no discussion on any political issue during the meeting", she told a TV channel.

To a question as to why she chose to meet Vajpayee and not Advani on her return from Kedarnath last night, she said, "it was not a political meeting. I was invited for dinner and I went".
