The first prototype of Saras, the indigenously developed civil aircraft, made its inaugural flight in Bangalore on August 23.
With this the doors have opened for the likely commercial production of Saras by the year 2008.
National Aerospace Laboratories, who designed and developed the aircraft, also announced that it had begun work on its expanded version.
