BJD wins Orissa by-poll

Ruling Biju Janata Dal candidate Sanjib Sahu has defeated his nearest Independent rival Pushpanjali Pradhan by over 27,000 votes in the bypoll to the Biramaharajpur assembly seat in Orissa.

Sahu got 56,428 votes; Pradhan polled 29,287.

The bypoll was held on September 26.
