November 12, 2003 20:00 IST

Police on Wednesday busted a major prostitution racket with the arrest of nine girls, hailing from Kolkata and Orissa, and five local men from Vadaj area of Ahmedabad.

The police had sent a decoy customer and caught the girls and the men finalising the deal, according to Naranpura Inspector P N Kher.

"These girls keep travelling in and out of Gujarat as also to other parts of the country," he said.

However, the kingpin was absconding and the police was trying to nab him, Kher added.
