Twin blasts in Srinagar, 14 hurt

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar | May 19, 2003 15:50 IST

At least 14 people were injured when two rifle grenades, fired by militants on a bunker manned by the Border Security Force, missed the target and exploded on a roadside in Batmallo, Srinagar, on Monday afternoon.

The injured were taken to hospital and the BSF cordoned off the area.

Meanwhile, militants near Kuchan village in Pulwama district waylaid a vehicle carrying cash for the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Shopian.

They disarmed two guards who were protecting the cash and escaped with the vehicle.
