Army major killed in ambush in Rajouri

An army major was on Tuesday night killed in an ambush by militants in Dharhal area of Rajouri district, police sources said in Jammu on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip off, Major A K Dubey, along with some jawans, led a patrol party to a forest area in Kamaran Gali in Dharhal, the sources said adding militants, who had taken vantage positions, opened fire killing the army officer.

The militants took one rifle along with a magazine and two wireless sets from the army officer before fleeing, they said.
