United States President George W Bush is pleased that Indo-Pak tension has diminished following Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's peace initiative and steps taken by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, the White House has said.

"When you see what is happening in relations between India and Pakistan, where they are exchanging ambassadors, the ambassadors are starting to arrive on the ground, and you see improvement in the tension, the diminishment of tension between India and Pakistan, it is a result of the steps that both Prime Minister Vajpayee and President Musharraf have taken," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said on Tuesday night.

Asked whether the US will put pressure on the Pakistan president on the issue of cross-border terrorism, he said Bush was 'pleased' with Musharraf's 'actions'.
