Chinese girl arrested in Bodh Gaya for spying

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | January 07, 2003 11:57 IST

Officers of the Research and Analysis Wing and the Intelligence Bureau have arrested a Chinese girl in Bodh Gaya in Bihar, suspecting her of spying on the 17th Karmapa, who is here to attend the Kalchakra festival.

The officers interrogated Chen Yun Hann in a room in a monastery in the presence of Gyngme Gyastro, an aide of the Karmapa.

The security around the Dalai Lama and the Karmapa has been tightened now.

The girl reportedly told the officers that she was in touch with a close aide of the Karmapa and had also been to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile.
