Karnataka police beefs up security in Cauvery belt

The Karnataka police stepped up security on Wednesday in the Cauvery belt as a precautionary measure following the Supreme Court order directing the state to release 1.25 tmc feet Cauvery water daily to Tamil Nadu, which would be discussed by the Cabinet and an all-party meeting in Bangalore.

Superintendents of Police, particularly in the sensitive districts of Mandya, Mysore, Hassan and Bangalore rural, are on high alert.

Leaders of different political parties have asked the Karnataka government to move the Supreme Court to seek a review of its order and ask for advancing the Cauvery River Authority meeting, slated for September 15.
