It's raining in Cauvery delta areas

A trough of low pressure that lay over the South West Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast and adjoining Sri Lanka brought showers in the Cauvery delta areas on Wednesday morning.

The rains have brought relief for the farmers in Cauvery basin, who are locked in a bitter battle with their counterparts in Karnataka over the release of Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu.

Chennai city and its suburbs have also been witnessing intermittent rains since Tuesday night.

The local weather office said the skies over the metropolis would remain cloudy and sporadic spells of rain would continue.
