The cops had earlier refused to entertain Shambhu Nath's complaint.
One Babban Singh, along with four others, had called on Shambhu Nath, at Punnpur village in Sultanpur district on November six, and asked him to work in their fields.
When Shambhu Nath refused, they assaulted him and demolished a portion of his house, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Akhilesh Singh said.
When Shambhu Nath went to the local police station to file an FIR, the police 'refused' to entertain his complaint, he said.
Shambhu Nath then met Priyanka, who is in Amethi for the last two days on an unscheduled visit, at the Munshiganj guest-house on Friday and narrated the entire incident.
Priyanka then accompanied him to Sangrampur police station and herself lodged an FIR under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act against the accused, Singh said.
