BJP to begin on Wednesday exercise of choosing candidates for polls

With the assembly election in Gujarat round the corner, the Bharatiya Janata Party starts its exercise of selecting candidates on Wednesday with a three-day meeting of state leaders.

"These meetings are part of the exercise by the party to distribute tickets for the assembly elections slated for December 12. The state leaders will discuss the report of the district units for this purpose," party spokesman Arun Jaitley said in New Delhi on Tuesday.

He said the state election committee will meet on November 10 in Gandhinagar to finalise the candidates.

The selection of candidates will be based on reports given by the state leaders at the conclusion of the three-day meeting.
