Committee to oversee relief work in Gujarat

The Gujarat government has decided to constitute a 13-member committee, to be headed by Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari, to oversee and review the working of relief camps for the violence-affected people in the state.

The decision to form the committee was taken by the state government following an announcement to this effect by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Lok Sabha on March 16, an official release of the revenue department said in Gandhinagar on Sunday night.

The members of the committee include Chief Minister Narendra Modi, leader of the opposition in the state assembly Naresh Raval, former chief minister Keshubhai Patel, state BJP chief Rajendrasinh Rana, state Congress president Amarsinh Chaudhary, Industries Minister Suresh Mehta, Health Minister Ashok Bhatt and Congress MLA Siddharth Patel, the release added.
