Security tightened in Godhra,
army conducts flag march

Additional security forces were deployed and the army staged a flag march in violence-ravaged Godhra town on Friday in the wake of the various programmes announced by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad to coincide with the shila daan in Ayodhya.

"I have done everything possible...made on-the-spot assessment of the sensitive pockets, deployed forces and also ordered a flag march," Panchmahal District Collector Jayanti S Ravi said.

At the historic Ram Lalla temple near Ram Sagar Pond, where Hindus were scheduled to offer prayers, additional security has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident, she said.
