A youth belonging to minority community was attacked and injured in Odhav area of Ahmedabad triggering fresh communal tension in the locality on Thursday, the police said.

The youth was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon in Soni Ki Chawl locality near Gita Gouri Cinema in Odhav and wounded below his abdomen, they said.

He has been admitted to a nearby hospital, where his condition was reported to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that Gujarat was passing through a testing time.

He said, "Though we have been successful in quelling violence, tension was still prevailing in parts."

"We should not get affected by developments taking place around us and should adopt a path of peace," he said.
