Modi's legal notice to Outlook magazine

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has served a legal notice to Delhi-based weekly magazine Outlook for publishing a news report in its June 3 issue alleging that Modi gave instructions to senior officers to remain inactive during "reprisal attacks by mobs to avenge the Godhra train carnage on February 27."

The notice has been issued to the editor, publisher and printer of the news magazine by Modi's lawyer Sumit Shah, a press release said.

The notice contends that the news report under the headline "A plot from devils layer" had defamed the chief minister.

The notice asks the publisher to publish a clarification and tender an unconditional apology.
