Presidential poll: PM, Advani cast votes

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee cast his vote in the Presidential election in Parliament on Monday.

Vajpayee, who was accompanied by Finance Minister Jaswant Singh, later shook hands with the ruling National Democratic Alliance's candidate A P J Abdul Kalam.

When the prime minister was casting his vote, photographers asked him to go slow and he obliged with a smile.

When Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan entered the voting compartment apparently to help the prime minister, the returning officer R C Tripathi called him out.

Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, Defence Minister George Fernandes, External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, Finance Minister Jaswant Singh, Law Minister Jana Krishnamurthi and Health Minister Shatrughan Sinha also cast their votes.
