Bihar floods claim ten lives

Floods in Bihar have so far claimed ten lives and affected over 300,000 people.

Official sources said six persons died in Muzaffarpur, three in Sitamarhi and one in Nawada districts on Saturday.

According to a Central Water Commission report, the overall situation in the state remained grim with the Punpun, Bagmati and Budhi Gandak rivers flowing above danger marks.

While the Punpun was flowing 193 cm above the danger mark at Sripalpur, Bagmati was 50 cm above the red mark at Benibad.

The water level of the Budhi Gandak was 96 cm and 85 cm above the danger marks at Sikandarpur and Rosera respectively, the report said.
